Hummingbird Drum

Hand crafted with a yellow cedar rim and stretched deer hide, this drum depicts the bringer of good luck, the hummingbird. Long ago, during the spring, some tribes of the west coast of Vancouver Island would chant the name of the humming bird before a hunt. If a hummingbird appeared this was a sign of a good hunt to come with healthy game.
